What it is
The eve of the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Fontana, Gozo, is one of the smaller-village festas — short, intense and very local. Fontana is a single-parish village on the road between Victoria and Xlendi, so the whole celebration plays out along a few hundred metres of street.
The 2026 eve falls on Saturday 13 June. Band marches start mid-afternoon and build through the evening. The main fireworks display, set off from the back of the parish church, runs around 9:30 pm — ground fireworks (the spinning Catherine wheels, kaxxi infernali) first, then the aerial display over the village square.
Best viewing is from the road that climbs out of Fontana toward Xlendi: you get the church silhouette and the fireworks above it. The Fontana Centre at the spring at the bottom of the village often runs a small marquee for the crowd. Easy by bus from Victoria — about a five-minute ride.
