What it is
Hondoq ir-Rummien is a small bay on Gozo's southeast coast, opposite Comino — clear shallow water, a single bar at the back of the beach, and a road that ends abruptly at the slipway. "Hondoq by Night" is the local-band evening that the Qala council and the bar at the back of the beach run at the start of every July.
The 2026 edition is on Friday 3 July, 9:00 pm to around midnight. Live sets from Cash & Band and Ryan Spiteri, with shorter slots for support acts in between. The stage sits on the slipway, the audience spreads across the beach and onto the rocks on either side. Free entry; you pay for drinks and food at the bar.
The road in from Qala village is single-lane and parking is informal; leave the car in Qala and walk down (15 minutes downhill, 25 minutes back up). Take a torch — the path away from the bay is unlit. Swimming is officially closed after sunset, but most of the crowd goes in anyway.
